Coatings are very popular for vehicles driven on a regular basis in a wide variety of environmental conditions. They offer very long term protection, easy washing maintenance, and a deep glossy finish. Coatings are available for paint, matt paint, protective films (PPF), glass, wheels, headlamps, and interiors.
Many of the Premium Grade coatings have a minimum price that is mandated by the coating vendor. The detailer must charge at least this price to have permission to purchase and install the coating. The coatings themselves can also be very expensive, up to $500.00 per ounce! Finally, professional highly experienced installers are in very high demand, and installation rates will reflect that.
No. Coatings are "Easy Maintenance". Coatings must be maintained properly and consistently or they will not perform as expected. I have customers with coatings that should have lasted maybe 2 years, they are on year 5, still going strong. I have had customers with coatings with 7 year warranties that have failed in 9 months. If you do not maintain coatings properly, the vendors will not honor the warranty!
It is very important that the detailer provides you with a written copy of the warranty and that you understand it clearly. All coating vendors have different warranties, some are more stringent than others. Also, some coatings require online warranty registration.
The important thing to remember is that when you coat a car with any coating from any vendor, you are changing the car forever. Coatings bond with molecular structure of the paint system and permanently change the surface tension. They are very difficult to remove totally and completely. For these reasons and various others, in my opinion hyper-exotic, extremely high value (EHV), classic, and cars with single stage paint systems should not be coated. I encourage owners of such cars to consider a world class wax, such as Swissvax.
All necessary washing, surface decontamination, claying, and up to 4 hours of paint correction are included in all coating packages. Further paint correction will be quoted upon inspection. Surfaces must be in 90%+ condition before any coating will be applied.
Coating packages are being added daily.....thank you for you patience!
